House GOP: Send National Guard, Speed Deportations
(Washington, DC) -- A House Republican task force is unveiling a one-point-five-billion dollar plan to deal with the border crisis. The "Washington Times" reports the plan calls for deploying the National Guard to assist in achieving "operational control" of the border. It also calls for sending U.S. forces to Central America and Mexico to stop undocumented migrants before they can reach the U.S. The GOP plan also aims to speed up deportations of undocumented migrants.
Earlier today, Republican House Speaker John Boehner once again accused President Obama of seeking a "blank check" for the southwest border crisis. Boehner claimed the President's request for nearly four-billion dollars in emergency funding does nothing to solve the illegal immigration problem. Tens of thousands of Central American migrants have poured across the U.S. border in recent months. Many of the migrants are unaccompanied children.
