News Director
Salem Communications - Phoenix, AZ

Salem Media Group is the leading U.S. radio broadcaster targeting audiences interested in conservative News Talk and Christian and family-themed programming.  We currently have a full-time position available for a News Director at 960 The Patriot - KKNT-AM.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for writing and producing news segments on 960 The Patriot
  • Voicing Newscasts, traffic, weather and commercials
  • Ability to use digital recording software
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Specific Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years on air experience.  Prior experience in running audio console at a commercial or non-commercial radio station necessary.
  • Experience in a similar format/formats preferred.
  • Experience with digital audio and digital editing systems.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to use Windows-based systems and programs.
  • Experience working with ENCO or other broadcast automation systems.

General Skills:

  • Ability to interact and work well with other staff.
  • Must be dependable and able to work and problem-solve independently.
  • Must be able to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Board Operator
Salem Communications - Phoenix, AZ

Salem Media Group is a leading broadcaster of religious programming and informative talk.  The company owns and operates commercial radio stations in major markets throughout the United States.  Salem Media Group in Phoenix is seeking a qualified Board Operator to perform duties related to running the audio board and automation systems for talk shows and other station programming for our three radio stations, 960 The Patriot, Faithtalk 1360 and Family Values Radio KXXT.  This is a part-time weekend shift.

Job Requirements:
Candidate must have a working knowledge of audio automation systems, phone screener software, audio boards, audio recording equipment, ISDN and TELCO systems and remote transmitter monitoring equipment.  Enco automation experience is helpful.

Candidate must be flexible, organized and a team-minded individual with good organizational skills.  Be able to work with minimal supervision.  Good interpersonal skills are a must with the ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment.  Candidate must also be reliable, prompt, have good computer skills and a minimum of 1 year on-air radio experience.
