The author of the critical book about the Trump White House claims he talked to the president on the record.

This morning on NBC's "Today" show, Michael Wolff said he absolutely spoke to Trump while he had access to the West Wing.

However, his comments clearly contradict Trump's tweet saying he never talked to Wolff and he authorized "Zero access" to the White House.

What’s more, as the Washington Times reports, many critics of Wolff contend that he has a tendency to play fast and loose with the truth.

Current and former members of the Trump administration came forward to dispute the version of events or even quotes attributed to them in the book.

His track record isn’t good.

More than a dozen people said Wolff embellished or outright invented quotes attributed to them in another book he published in 1998.
