Two illegal immigrants have been charged with the rape of a 14-year-old girl last week in a boys’ bathroom of a Maryland high school.

That case has fueled opposition to officials making Maryland into a sanctuary state.

Fox News reports the suspects in last Thursday’s attack are 17 and 18. Both are from Central America. Four days after the rape,

Maryland’s House of Delegates passed legislation to join states like California in becoming a “sanctuary state.”

That action infuriated Republican officials including the governor. White House spokesman Sean Spicer pointed to the case Tuesday saying, "The reason the president has made it such a priority to crack down on illegal immigration is because of cases like this.”
