A former aide to Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is being charged with bank fraud after trying to flee the country.

House IT staffer Imran Awan was detained at Washington Dulles International Airport on Monday trying to board a plane to Pakistan.

Fox News reports authorities for months have been looking into how Awan may have double-billed the House for equipment like computers and iPads.

Awan was still working for the Democratic congresswoman and former DNC chairwoman when he was arrested.

Her office said yesterday that he has now been fired.

Meanwhile, Wasserman Schultz reportedly began negotiating with Capitol Police recently for access to her laptop in the case. Up until now, she has been uncooperative.
