Rents in California have skyrocketed over the past decade, thanks to the liberal policies and regulations in the state. But, as Reason reports, left-wing Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris wants the rest of the country to pay to fix the problem.

On Thursday, Harris, along with Democratic Sens. Richard Blumenthal, Maggie Hasan, and Diane Feinstein, introduced the Rent Relief Act, which would provide refundable tax credits for tenants who spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent.

Currently, 58 percent of California renters pay more than a third of their income in rent.

Harris’ plan would have, you guessed it, wealthier Americans all across the country pay to subsidize California renter’s costs.
