Democrats are distancing themselves from veteran Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

The movie mogul and top Democratic contributor is taking a leave of absence after dozens of current and former associates have accused the studio exec of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Weinstein, who has reached confidential settlements with at least eight women, said he apologizes for the pain caused by his past behavior with colleagues.

The "New York Times" says several Democratic senators have started moving Weinstein campaign contributions to charities.

The list includes Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Vermont's Pat Leahy, and Connecticut's Richard Blumenthal.

Other Democrats are expected to follow suit.
