Polls Find the Majority of Americans Want to Preserve Confederate Monuments

The latest poll from Rasmussen finds that despite widespread media condemnation of the president’s response following the recent incident in Charlottesville, Virginia, 50% of likely U.S. voters agree with Trump’s tweet that it is “sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments.”
Rasmussen’s national telephone and online survey finds that only 37% disagree, while 12% are undecided.
Keeping the statues up has even higher support in a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
That poll found that 54 percent of adults said Confederate monuments "should remain in all public spaces" while only 27 percent said they "should be removed."
