Some new signs posted outside of restrooms at Northern Arizona University are asking students to consider whether they have “pee privilege.”

Campus Reform reports the signs inform restroom-goers that if they “never have to think about gender identity, ability, or access when peeing,” then they have “pee privilege.”

Other signs offer “a guide” for students on the “do’s and dont’s” of encountering a transgender person in a restroom and tells them not to “question” someone if they appear to be in the wrong bathroom.

They also say students should be concerned, not for their own safety, but for the safety of any transgender person who, they say, are “at high risk of assault.”

An NAU spokesperson said the school has not authorized the flyers and is working on getting them removed.
