Colorado Inmates Given Computer Tablets with Games, Books, Music

8,000 prison inmates in Colorado have been given computer tablets so they can call loved ones, play games, read books, and listen to music.

Breitbart reports a new program, created by GTL Corp., is giving out tablets to over 18,000 prison inmates, with hopes to eventually get them into the hands of every prisoner in the U.S.

Though the tablets are free-of-charge to prisoners, there is a potential profit to be made through music and game subscriptions and text charges.

Some supporters believe that the tablets could help ease tension between prison gangs over prison phone use.

But, correctional officers and victims’ groups are skeptical, saying prisoners are being “catered to and offered all the comforts of home.”
