This may be how fake news gets started.

Newsweek senior political reporter Kurt Eichenwald reported that supporters of Donald Trump booed when the president-elect eulogized the astronaut John Glenn at an Iowa rally Thursday night.

The Hill reports Eichenwald issued a retraction three hours after he tweeted, "Trump supporters booed John Glenn when Trump mentioned his name at today's rally. A real American hero risked his life for us. He got booed."

That tweet was shared thousand of times.

Later Eichenwald tweeted he was “in error” and that it seemed people were actually booing Trump as he mentioned Glenn.

Even that wasn’t right as footage of the event shows Trump supporters heckling protesters who became disruptive.
