Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has announced a plan to hire ten-thousand refugees in the wake of President Trump's temporary ban on allowing citizens of certain nations into the U.S.
Schultz unveiled the plan in a company-wide letter. He wrote, in part, "We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question."
He went on to detail his goal of hiring ten-thousand refugees over the next five years. While many customers were supportive of Starbucks' actions, others threatened to boycott after the letter's release.
One Facebook user wrote, "Upon hearing about your decision to hire 10000 refugees instead of Americans I will no longer spend any money at Starbucks."
