Funeral home owners plead guilty to corpse abuse after almost 200 bodies found

A married couple that owns a Colorado funeral home where decomposing bodies were found have pleaded guilty to corpse abuse. 

Jon and Carie Hallford co-owned the Return to Nature Funeral home that offered environmentally-friendly burials, however, according to police the burials and cremations were not conducted.

Police say during the investigation investigators discovered that the couple accepted payment for services that were never performed over a period of more than four years. The pair pleaded guilty to 191 counts of abuse of a corpse and also admitted to conspiring to defraud the U.S. Small Business Administration for more than $800,000.

Their sentencing is scheduled for April 18.
