Super Bowl Champion Cooper Kupp Says Football Is a Platform to Share Jesus

An NFL wide receiver who helped the Seattle Seahawks capture their second Super Bowl title earlier this year says he views football as a platform for sharing God’s Word.
Cooper Kupp is a nine-year NFL veteran who signed with the Seattle Seahawks prior to the 2025 season, finished second on the team in receiving, and then led Seattle with six catches for 61 yards in its 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
But Kupp, a former Pro Bowler who previously starred with the Los Angeles Rams, says his greatest purpose extends far beyond football.
Kupp opened up about his faith Saturday at Arise with the Guys, an annual event hosted by Hall of Fame Tony Dungy that spotlights the intersection of sports and faith.
“Because of my faith in Jesus, I know that I will never allow what I do … [to take] away from what I know that my purpose is here,” Kupp said.
The 32-year-old Kupp said he believes God gave him talents on the gridiron “not to go do great football things, or to win Super Bowls.” Instead, “I was made to play football, to be on a stage, to be able to point to Jesus, to be able to call people to Him, to be able to live a life that reflects Jesus in every way.”
Kupp is known as one of the league’s most outspoken Christians and lists 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 on his social media bio.
“I know that I would not be here without Him, without the blessings in my life, without the way He's intricately put the people directly in my life,” Kupp said, before referencing his wife, Anna Marie Kupp – “who has been such a huge impact on me, in my faith and in my journey to becoming a husband, a father – the father I want to be.”
“It is because of His divine intervention that brought us together,” Kupp added.
The veteran receiver said he tries to remain humble, knowing his talents come from God.
“Your plan is perfect. You have placed me here, and all I want to do is to serve You, glorify You. And … that's where my identity lies.”
