When a rift occurs between two parties and we can’t reach reconciliation, we do not need to feel ashamed. We do need to consider how to move forward. Here are seven things to do when you can’t fix a relationship.
What God calls us to do in honoring our parents is to honor what a mother and a father are supposed to be in our lives, honoring first the most loving Father in our lives, God. Loving Him first allows us to see ways we can love and honor our parents even if they haven’t been honorable to us.
Becket Cook looks at the story of Amy Grant hosting her niece’s lesbian wedding on her farm. Amy calls it love, but what is love according to the Bible?
Our job is to love people towardsJesus and the Church instead of turning them away. So how do we do that while honoring God and our own convictions throughout all?
... receiving God's forgiveness is intertwined with our willingness to forgive others. This mutual dependency underscores the importance of a forgiving heart, suggesting that our own spiritual well-being is connected to how we treat others
We must not rely on what our hearts are saying or the coined encouragement the world offers to "follow your heart" but instead look to God to reveal in His timing and ways His will for our lives-including romantic relationships. Trust that if He has revealed and made His Will clear for you to be in a romantic relationship, even if there is a gap, He has a purpose and a plan.
God’s forgiveness of our sins is always complete and lasting. But our forgiveness of others may sometimes need to be renewed. If old feelings resurface, we may once again feel the weight of unforgiveness.
When we shift our perspective from what has been done to us and instead forgive for the greater purpose of someone turning towards salvation, it will inspire us to want to forgive more easily. If we truly knew the person we were extending forgiveness to as an unbeliever would one day come to believe in Christ because of our actions, wouldn't we do it?
Aside from forgiving your mom, you can also pray for her—that God would give her the wisdom to corral her parts. Pray also for yourself and your parts so you won’t end up despising your mother (Proverbs 23:22).
When dating someone with a different religion or the same one, it's important to stand firm in your religious beliefs and practices so you won't be easily swayed to leave behind what you know for superficial reasons.
