A Prayer for the Battle That Won’t End | Your Daily Prayer

Some battles do not end the way we expect.

They pause.

Then return.

You begin to breathe easier, and suddenly the problem is back.

A diagnosis changes.

A medication stops working.

An addiction resurfaces.

A marriage slips backward.

A loved one relapses.

A fear you thought you had finally overcome comes rushing back.

Repeated battles carry a unique kind of exhaustion because they force us to start over emotionally again and again.

Hope becomes harder to hold.

Prayer becomes more difficult.

Even good news can feel fragile because we are afraid to trust it.

Psalm 116 understands this kind of anguish.

The psalmist describes being entangled, overwhelmed by distress and sorrow, and brought to a place where all he could do was cry out:

“Lord, save me.”

There is nothing polished about that prayer.

It is simple.

Urgent.

Honest.

And God hears it.

“I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.”

— Psalm 116:1–2
