Reporters are scrambling to round up comments from Republicans to paint a picture that the party is slowly losing faith in President Trump.
Following the New York Times report Tuesday alleging that Trump asked now-fired FBI Director James Comey to step back from an investigation into Michael Flynn, several Republican lawmakers spoke out.
Justin Amash told The Hill that if the Comey story was true, it could mean impeachment. That led to Carlos Curbelo who reportedly told Mother Jones that he was “actually the first Republican to mention impeachment.”
Sen. John McCain from Arizona, jumped on the bandwagon, telling CBS News’s Bob Schieffer, “It’s reaching the point where it’s of Watergate size and scale.”
The Representatives, however, don’t seem to represent the Republican voters. According to Breitbart, a recent Gallup poll found Trump’s approval rating at 84 percent.
