In spite of receiving high marks from the majority of Americans, Democrats panned President Trump’s State of the Union speech last night, especially on the topic of immigration.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the speech lacked vision adding Trump “stooped to a new low” on how he dealt with the issue.
But, as the Washington Examiner reports, all Senate Democrats in 2013 voted for a comprehensive immigration reform plan to build a border fence and end “chain migration” and the visa lottery.
The Dems voted in favor of the so-called “Gang of Eight” bill that called for “no fewer than 700 miles” of border fencing, and an end to diversity programs, very similar to those Trump is now pushing in his broad plan.
The 2013 plan failed in the House, but did win in the Senate. All no votes were Republican.
