ACLU Loses Effort to Charge Kim Davis $231,000 in Legal Fees

A federal judge has ruled that Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, who in 2015 spent six days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples due to her religious beliefs, will not have to pay $231,000 in court fees.

Unbelievably, even though the ACLU lost their case to force Davis to issue marriage licenses, they wanted her to pay for their troubles.

U. S. Magistrate Judge Edward Atkins denied their demand that Davis pay the ACLU $231,000, because they didn't win their case against Davis.

There were actually three cases against Davis, all of which were dismissed after the Kentucky legislature passed a law giving Davis, and others, religious liberty accommodations.
