When voters in the U.K. voted to end their ties with the European Union back in June, experts and media fretted that the departure, or Brexit, would send Britain’s economy into a death spiral.
But, a new report out over the weekend shows the country has the strongest growth numbers in the world.
Multiple media outlets report Britain ended last year as the strongest of the world’s advanced economies with growth accelerating in the six months after the Brexit vote.
As the report notes, far from slowing, as predicted by the Treasury and Bank of England, growth appeared to have improved in the first two quarters of last year.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Theresa May said over the weekend that Britain will leave the Single Market so it can take control of immigration and secure its borders.
