California Gov. Jerry Brown has proposed a 42 percent increase in gasoline taxes and a 141 percent increase in vehicle registration fees.

Breitbart News reports Brown announced last week that California’s General Fund Budget is in deficit by $1.6 billion.

Brown’s attempt to raise gasoline taxes by 17 cents a gallon, and vehicle registration fees by $65, is necessary in order to pay for the state’s out of control retirement pension plan known as CalPers.

The governor’s budget also includes a $524 million increase for the public pension contribution.
