In its zeal to lead the charge on perceived climate change, California passed a law in 2016 that required renewable energy sources be 50% of all electricity produced by 2030.
Now, Senate Majority Leader Kevin de León has introduced a new bill that one-ups that law, mandating the state get 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045.
The bill further says that all new homes, all homes sold, apartment buildings, and office buildings must be reliant on solar panels by 2025.
And farms must set aside 25% of their acreage to windmills.
Farmers, already hit hard by water shortages, are most vocally against the plan.
