Chelsey Manning to Remain on Active Duty After Release from Prison

Pvt. Chelsea Manning, the transgender soldier and convicted national security secret leaker, will remain on active-duty, as an unpaid soldier, but eligible for health care and other benefits, following a scheduled release on Wednesday from military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, according to the Army.
Manning entered prison as a man named Bradley, but soon after said he identified as a woman and changed his name.
His sentence of 35 years for releasing hundreds of thousands of secret documents to WikiLeaks was commuted by President Obama during his final days in office.
President Trump blasted Obama’s decision to release Manning from prison early.
Manning will be assigned to an Army post but it is unclear where.
