A Texas court issued a last minute injunction protecting doctors and patients from a mandate that was due to kick in on January 1 that could have forced medical providers to violate their religious and medical judgment.

The Daily Signal reports the mandate was part of ObamaCare regulations, and included a requirement for doctors to provide abortions.

It also required doctors to perform gender transition procedures on children, even if the doctor believed the treatment could harm the child.

The court ruling came after eight states, an association of almost 18,000 doctors, and a Catholic hospital system challenged the new federal regulation.
