Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez incorrectly stated "the Electoral College is not a creation of the Constitution" during a Tuesday night speech in his ongoing attempt to argue that President Trump shouldn’t really be in the Oval Office.

The Washington Free Beacon reports during a lecture at Indiana University Law School, Perez said, “The Electoral College is not a creation of the Constitution, it doesn’t have to be there."

The Electoral College, of course, is clearly laid out in Article II of the Constitution.

Perez has previously stated that Trump "didn’t win" last November’s election because Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, but he has never denied the fact that it is part of the Constitution until now.

The DNC did not respond to his comments.
