The FBI apparently lost five months’ worth of text messages exchanged between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the two FBI employees who made pro-Clinton and anti-Trump comments while working on Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

A letter sent by the Justice Department to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Friday said the FBI “failed to preserve” the texts.

They cited a technical error as a reason.

The missing texts were sent during the time that the infamous Steele dossier was published.

They also appear to have gone missing literally on the same day that Mueller took over the Russia investigation.
