It appears President Obama’s push for stricter gun control laws while in office have, excuse the pun, backfired.

The Washington Examiner reports terror threats and a potential Hillary Clinton administration drove sales of guns in America to record levels in 2016, according to the FBI.

Around 27.5 million guns were sold in 2016, 4 million more than in the year before and nearly double the number in President Obama's first year.

The administration's constant, but failed, efforts to impose gun control, and threats by Clinton to double down on those efforts, also pushed gun sales to record highs, leading many in the gun industry to call him “salesman in chief.”

Sales since the election have declined.
