Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said misogyny "certainly" played a role in her U.S. presidential election defeat.
Speaking in her first interview since the election from the Women in the World Summit in New York on Thursday, Newsmax reports Clinton said the prospect of electing the first woman president was “threatening” to some people.
Clinton said she refused to give into “bullying and name calling, and that infuriated everyone,” adding "Certainly, misogyny played a role. And that just has to be admitted."
While never citing specifics, Clinton said she didn't understand the Trump administration's "commitment to hurt so many people" and was concerned women's rights around the world were under threat.
On a positive note, Clinton said that she does not see herself running for any public office ever again.
