It was clear that Hillary Clinton and her supporters took her unexpected loss to Donald Trump in November very hard.

That may have been what led Clinton’s pastor to urge her to keep her head up after her Election Day loss, comparing it to Jesus' death and resurrection.

United Methodist City Society Executive Director the Rev. Bill Shillady in an email to Clinton obtained by CNN compared the election to Good Friday, the day Jesus was crucified.

He told Clinton, “You, our nation, our world is experiencing a black Friday. Our hope is that Sunday is coming. But it might well be hell for a while."

Shillady co-officiated Chelsea Clinton's wedding and led the memorial service for Clinton's mother.
