The left-wing Los Angeles Unified school board on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution to make LA Unified school campuses “sanctuaries” for immigrant students and their families who might face deportation or detainment by ICE agents.
The resolution comes shortly after the arrest of an illegal immigrant by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement agents as he took his daughter to school.
ICE officials said the man had several prior criminal convictions.
The resolution not only makes all public school a “safe place” for illegals, it also prohibits schools from asking about a student’s immigration status, and states that district employees can refuse to share information with immigration agents.
