As the NFL continues to politicize the sport with players kneeling for the national anthem, there are reminders that those teams rely on public, taxpayer money to be on that field.

The Daily Signal reports the NFL raked in $14 billion in 2016, heavily subsidized by local, state, and federal money.

Watchdog.org said that in 20 years, the NFL raised about $7 billion of taxpayer money to spend on stadium renovation and building.

The Brookings Institution says that 36 stadiums have been constructed at a cost of over $3 billion in taxpayer dollars since 2000. The Heritage Foundation notes cities often see no return on their investment.

Recently released polls show national anthem protests are deeply unpopular with the American people, and it may be even more so as fans realize that they are paying for those players to kneel during the anthem.
