A former Obama official admitted Sunday that the U.S. "always knew" an agreement with Syrian President Bashar Assad did not clear all chemical weapons out of Syria.
Tony Blinken, a former deputy secretary of state and former deputy national security adviser under Barack Obama, said, "We always knew we had not gotten everything.”
But, following an agreement with Russia, Syria, and the U.S. in 2013, Obama’s secretary of state John Kerry said the deal had resulted in Syria purging "100 percent" of its chemical agents.
Obama's national security adviser Susan Rice told what some are calling a “whopper” of a story, saying they got the Syrian government to "verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile."
The chemical weapons attack last week made it painfully clear those statements were false.
