Recent allegations against Arizona State Parks Director Sue Black could complicate Gov. Doug Ducey’s plan to get rid of the State Parks Board and give more powers to her.
Black is under fire following accusations of misconduct, which was spurred by a claim filed by a former employee, according to The Arizona Republic.
HB2369, pushed by Ducey and sponsored by Rep. T.J. Shope, R-Coolidge, would scrap multiple state boards and committees, including the Parks Board. The Governor’s Office said many of them are no longer meeting regularly or were created for a particular purpose that is no longer needed.
Shope said he was warned by the Governor’s Office that an article about the allegations was coming out, and said he hopes Black’s problems won’t hurt his bill’s chances in the Senate.
