Dakota Access Pipeline protesters have finally been removed, but before they left, they decided to light their camp on fire.
They’ve been camped out for months fighting construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. They argued the line could cause environmental damage to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe’s land and waterways.
Officials now worry the tons of garbage they generated will be what contaminates the river.
The state of North Dakota is even paying the bill to clean up the camp’s huge mess.
But, as protesters left Wednesday, they set fire to the camp – calling it a “symbolic act.”
National Review reports the Standing Rock tribe likely won’t be sorry to see the agitators go.
Not only do they leave a mess, but they have cost the tribe’s casino at least $6 million in revenue amid the turmoil.
