Sen. Marco Rubio wants the Army to remove a self-described communist officer, and is asking the US Military Academy to consider rescinding his degree.
In a story we first brought you last week, 2nd Lt. Spenser Rapone posted photos on Twitter expressing pro-communist views, with a sign in his military hat that said “Communism will win,” and wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt underneath his uniform.
He also tweeted out support for Colin Kaepernick and Chelsea Manning, called Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis "vile" and "evil," and said he would "happily dance" on Sen. John McCain's grave.
Rubio sent a letter to acting Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy on Tuesday to complain about Rapone’s conduct, noting Rapone indicated he had plans to "infiltrate and sabotage the military," and asked whether West Point knew about his pro-communist views.
