Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is pledging to ban sanctuary cities in his state even as other governors and mayors promise to continue sheltering illegal immigrants.

The Hill reports Abbott tweeted on Sunday, "I'm going to sign a law that bans sanctuary cities."

He also issued an order cutting funding to sanctuary cities.

President-elect Donald Trump pledged to deport millions of immigrants starting with any undocumented immigrants who were members of gangs or had criminal records.

He also vowed to block funding to sanctuary cities. Democratic governors and mayors signaled they will not go along with Trump’s plans.
