President Trump told the Washington Examiner that he is "absolutely" thinking about breaking up the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
His comments came one day after U.S. District Judge William Orrick temporarily blocked Trump's efforts to withhold funds from “sanctuary cities” that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement officers.
Republicans have long criticized the 9th Circuit for its liberal leanings and very high rate of overturned rulings. GOP lawmakers have repeatedly introduced legislation that would create a new court designed to lighten the Ninth's caseload.
Trump said that "many people" would support breaking up the "outrageous" bench.
He accused opponents of his policies of often ending up at the Ninth after "judge shopping" to find a judge who will rule in their favor.
