Tasty lunches are coming back to a school near you as the Trump administration eases nutritional standards put in place under President Obama.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture last week published a new interim rule which relaxes sodium and whole-grain requirements on school lunches and also allows flavored milk with 1 percent fat back into school cafeterias nationwide.
The tight rules implemented under the guidance of former first lady Michelle Obama, were criticized by many for having the effect of reducing lunch portions drastically and offering tasteless food that kids didn’t want to eat.
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told reporters the changes will not reduce nutritional standers at all, and will allow schools to serve nutritious and appealing meals.
