President Trump has called on his supporters to choose the winner of the "Fake News Trophy" before the end of 2017.

The Washington Examiner reports an email sent to supporters from the Trump Make America Great Again Committee stated, "At President Trump's request, we are holding a contest to name the 2017 KING of Fake News.

The fundraising email links to a poll allowing voters to "Crown the King of Fake News."

The poll references ABC News, CNN, and Time magazine and incidents such as ABC News "mistakenly" reporting that Trump directed Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials before the election.

In November, the president suggested in a tweet a contest to choose which network would win such a trophy.
