Yemen’s Houthi rebels say an alleged U.S. airstrike that hit a prison holding African migrants killed at least 68 people. That’s according to the Houthis’ Civil Defense organization on Monday, which said 47 others were wounded. There was no immediate independent confirmation of the death toll and the U.S. military has not acknowledged conducting the strike in Yemen’s Saada governorate, a stronghold of the Houthis. Some 115 prisoners were held at the site. Graphic footage aired by the Houthis' al-Masirah satellite news channel showed what appeared to be dead bodies and others wounded there.
Authorities say more than 100 immigrants suspected of being in the United States illegally were taken into custody during a raid at an illegal after-hours nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Video posted online by the Drug Enforcement Administration showed agents announcing their presence outside the building early Sunday. DEA special agent in charge John Pullen says the club has been under investigation for several months for alleged activities including drug trafficking, prostitution and “crimes of violence.” Pullen says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took the immigrants into custody. Also among those detained were a dozen active-duty military service members who either were patrons or were working as armed security.

Ukrainian officials, speaking before the announcement, said their troops continue to fight in Kursk. The attacks came hours before U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Vatican City on the sidelines of the funeral of Pope Francis.

President Donald Trump is among more than 50 heads of state and other dignitaries attending the funeral for Pope Francis in Vatican City on Saturday. He also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The late pontiff disagreed with Trump's approach on issues like immigration and climate change. But after Francis died earlier this week, Trump remembered him as a “good man” who “loved the world.” Trump is working to broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine and negotiate trade agreements with multiple countries.

Three days of public viewing of Pope Francis’ body by ordinary mourners and statesmen alike have ended. Francis died on Monday at age 88 after suffering a stroke. The Vatican said Friday that around 250,000 mourners filed through St. Peter’s Basilica over the three days to pay their last respects as Francis lay in state in a simple wooden coffin. Hundreds of disappointed people were turned away when authorities closed St. Peter’s Square hours before the viewing period ended. The pope’s casket will be closed and sealed later Friday in the next in a series of carefully orchestrated rites set off by the death of a pope. Francis will be buried after a funeral Mass on Saturday.
