Classic margaritas

*makes 2*

Ingredients:

  • 3oz silver tequila
  • 3oz fresh squeezed lime juice (about 6 limes)
  • 2oz Cointreau

A few notes on making this:

  • Make sure your lime juice is fresh squeezed, and not the bottled stuff—it makes a huge difference in flavor.
  • Have lots of ice on hand—these taste best very cold with lots of ice.
  • You don’t have to salt your glass rims, but if you prefer salt, use a nice finishing salt or sea salt—not table or kosher.

Directions:

  • Juice limes—you can use a hand juicer, but for a lot of limes, I love this automatic one
  • If desired, run the juiced lime half over the rims of two double old fashioned glasses and dip glasses in sea salt.
  • Fill glasses with ice and place in freezer.
  • Add tequila, lime juice and Cointreau to shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake vigorously 30-40 times.
  • Remove glasses from freezer and strain the shaken margaritas into glasses.
  • Enjoy!
