Yair Keydar is only 12 years old and from Parkland, Florida. This young man has quite a career ahead of him on the stage. He truly does have amazing qualities. Yair is a star in the making with his effortless vocals, confidence, smile, and flair. You will enjoy every minute of his audition.

It is always intriguing to see young talent come onto a global television stage. Watch as this 16-year-old stuns with her powerful voice on American Idol.

Kiera Howell is from Geneva, Alabama. She begins her audition on one of the largest stages with such confidence and poise. Her voice is so rich and has a unique strength. She sings, “Don’t Tread on Me” by We the Kingdom. 

She has incredible power and amazes the judges with her voice. They smile and laugh with excitement over her performance. You can tell immediately that they love her, and you will, too.

Kiera showcases her vocal abilities with an impressive moment when she holds an extended note. You will be in awe as she sings the note with such marvelous expertise. 

She has a country undertone to her voice, with a beautiful confidence in Jesus as she sings about the devil staying away. She even finishes with such vocal control. This young woman is gifted beyond her years.

After her audition, the judges share their thoughts. Carrie tells her that Kiera is versatile and that she likes her voice. Luke says that she may have broken a Carrie Underwood note-holding record. Carrie then compliments her song choice as well if she goes forward and gives her a wink. 

Kiera gets so excited. After the judges say yes to her to continue, the precious young woman cries with joy as she moves on with her golden ticket.

The electric guitars and intense drumming in this four-member performance give the song an incredible rocking vibe. It’s even more impressive given that the group is fairly young—but they play with experience. They absolutely know what they’re doing.

The song arrangement is one of the best I’ve ever heard from a classic song redone. It reimagines “Yesterday” into something that will appeal to any rock or pop punk fan. The First to Eleven band doesn’t change any of the classic lyrics:

In this case, the tune came before the lyrics. The Beatles’ Paul McCartney says he dreamt of the tune while he slept. 

“I woke up with a lovely tune in my head. I thought, That’s great, I wonder what that is?” he recalled.

An American Idol hopeful’s powerful and original song will have you in tears. The young man’s moving tune was about a dark, unimaginable personal tragedy that changed his life forever. Watch the short, but tear-jerking clip to hear the young man beautifully perform his original song about a terrible event in his life.

Life is not fair, and anyone who believes it is for a moment is beyond naïve because they are only fooling themselves. Horrible, painful situations do happen in life and often come about through no decision or fault of our own. That sad and undeniable fact can make the situation even worse, sometimes causing people to question God and ask, “Why me?”

There are times, unfortunately, when we will never get an answer as to why this or that happened, at least not on this side of heaven. However, and thankfully, there are ways and avenues to channel and work through that pain, grief and sorrow. Some may find it helpful to talk to a professional, while others may look for more creative outlets to vent their pain, hurt, and frustration, such as writing a song.

In a clip posted on YouTube, one young man, ahead of his audition, told the show’s three judges that his father “ended” his mother’s life. So, the song he was about to perform was an original of his about a personal, painful family tragedy that forever changed his life.

It's a beautifully written tune, in which the listener can hear and feel the pain the songwriter feels at losing his mother. It is one that is likely to bring a tear or two to your eye.

Additionally, the woman who had raised the young man, his grandmother, was snuck into the room and was able to listen in as he performed for the judges. She was also able to witness them give her grandson three yes votes, sending him into the next round of the competition.

It’s a dreary day on a London street, but this busker, who goes by Leire, brightens it with her piano and lyrical performance of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.” It’s a song about how music brings people together, and that’s exactly what it did.

As Leire plays in the middle of the busy street, people stop in the drizzle to hear her play. Some of the song’s lyrics are:

Billy wrote “Piano Man” after he worked as a bar pianist in Los Angeles. It’s all about his perspective as a pianist whose music soothes lost wanderers looking for a little connection. It was released in 1973, but it sounds timeless. 

“I suppose when I was actually doing the gig, I was thinking, ‘Well, this is different than I thought things were gonna be,’” Billy said before. “I wanted to be a recording artist … and here I was in this bar in Los Angeles playing for a drinking crowd.”

“It was kind of an odd situation for me, but I recognized that there was something that was so unique about it, I might be able to write a song about this,” he explained. “I might be able to capture this moment. And that’s how it got written.”

Leire’s voice is a wonderful match for this song. It’s strong and carries well across the street. It has a certain magic that draws listeners in like flies to honey. 

Her voice is so emotive and lovely; she has a natural gift. It’s wonderful that we all get to hear it through this cover.

Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” gets a stunning cover on The Voice by a 42-year-old stay-at-home dad with a youthful voice. It’s a wonderful performance. Play the video to see it.

Youth often dominates The Voice stage, but this man, Joe Topping, proves that age has no effect on talent. His voice absolutely stuns the judges, and judge Anne-Marie’s jaw almost hit the floor from the moment he started singing. 

His voice is gentle and lovely—the kind you’d want to hear sing a lullaby. As he sings, his wife and two sons stand proudly by, watching. Two judges slammed their buttons to snag Joe for their team, but judge Olly Murs secured him for his team by blocking judge Sir Tom Jones, much to Tom’s disdain. 

“Your performance was impeccable. I was incredible, honestly, genuinely amazing…I think that you’re great,” Olly told Joe. 

“I love the way you sang,” said Jones. “It was just real. You just came through like you meant it and you know, I loved it.” 

“It was so beautiful,” added Anne-Marie. 

Judge Will.i.am said, “I knew you were playing the guitar because your singing and timing were one. It was immaculate. You have a really, really awesome talent.” 

“It’s honest. The world needs that type of singer-songwriter, playing from the heart, connecting to other people’s hearts,” he continued. “People like Bob Dylan, that craftsmanship, those types of artists, they need to resurface.” 

Joe grew up listening to Irish and American folk songs at his father’s club. His father was also a singer. Joe was always surrounded by traveling musicians and great music, so it’s a no-brainer that he’d also develop some musical skills. 

He’s a wonderful singer and guitarist, and his family should be proud that he made it on The Voice and impressed the judges so well.

The arrangement is very clever. Each singer has mastered the art of harmony. They sound simply wonderful together.

The Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love” was a number one hit in its time. It was written by the three brothers, Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, with help from keyboardist Blue Weaver. It was released in 1977. The beautiful melody is a lot different than the band’s more pop-sounding hits.

The brothers were in France at Château d’Hérouville when they felt inspired to write the song. 

“We went into a room at the Chateau. Chopin had stayed there, so every time I looked at this piano, I envisioned Chopin playing,” Blue Weaver said. “I sat down at the piano and thought of his ‘Prelude In E-flat,’ and I knew Barry [Gibb] could sing in E-flat.”

“ … Through the stained-glass window came a beam of sunlight, and Barry sang, ‘I know your eyes in the morning sun,’” he recalled. 

Barry once said, “I think, the title 'How Deep Is Your Love' we thought was perfect because of all the connotations involved in that sentence, and that was simply it.”

The band actually wrote it for singer Yvonne Elliman; however, music entrepreneur Robert Stigwood insisted that the brothers sing it.

The Bee Gees made a beautiful song, but it sounds all the better when this a cappella group sings it.

These buskers turned in a stunning duet of Adele’s hit “Easy on Me.” Their rendition of the classic was spectacular, and you’ll likely find yourself returning to it again and again. Watch the short but delightful clip to listen to these two incredibly gifted musicians perform Adele’s “Easy on Me.”

There seems to have been a noticeable and considerable resurgence in the popularity of covers as of late. That’s likely due in large part to shows like American Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent. Nearly every musical performance on those popular programs is an individual singing a highly recognizable, beloved tune. Sure, some of them perform originals, but by and large, the majority are covers.

While nearly every even remotely popular tune has been covered, some are more difficult to do than others, much more so in some cases. For instance, someone attempting to sing a Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin or Mariah Carey song has a tall task ahead of them. Those ladies could hit notes that most people can only dream about reaching.

The same can be said for someone trying to perform a tune from British crooner Adele. She has an unmistakable, distinctive voice and sound, and arguably has one of the best voices in all of music, ever. However, that did not stop two young musicians from giving Adele’s “Easy on Me” their best shot.

Despite the challenge of trying to live up to the original version, the two talented young musicians knock their cover out of the park. It’s fantastic, with each of them putting their considerable musical gifts and talents on full display. And because they did, we are all blessed with a fabulous cover of the song that is near and dear to the hearts of many.

How can you not appreciate and admire what these two young people accomplished with a truly difficult tune?

Singing this music in the very places where it came to life on screen was truly a dream come true.”

The Rise Up Children’s Choir exists to inspire young performers to uplift, entertain, and transform the world through music. The song ‘The Sound of Silence’ was originally recorded and released by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964, but it was promptly ignored by mainstream radio until it became an unlikely hit in Florida. Now, the tune has been covered by a wide range of musical artists and has become a classic.

Simon wrote ‘The Sound of Silence’ when he was 21, and he explained that he wrote the song in his bathroom, where he turned off the lights to concentrate better. "The main thing about playing the guitar, though, was that I was able to sit by myself and play and dream. And I was always happy doing that. I used to go off in the bathroom, because the bathroom had tiles, so it was a slight echo chamber. I'd turn on the faucet so that water would run (I like that sound, it's very soothing to me) and I'd play in the dark,” he said.

As for Celtic Thunder, the Irish singing group was formed in 2007. They are known for their eclectic, theatrical-style shows, and the Celtic Thunder Band backs the group on their concert tours. Their live shows are known for their dramatic set pieces, visual effects, and highly choreographed staging.

In December 2008, 2009, and 2011, Billboard magazine named Celtic Thunder the Top World Album Artist. Their first three albums also placed in the top 10 of the World Albums chart. The group gives dynamic, electric performances, and it is so fun to watch them perform songs from all different genres on stage.
